Tay Salmon Fisheries logo.pngFounded in 1898, The owns or controls 30 Miles of the riverbank foreshore on the Tay and Earn.

For the past 10 years the company has been working to regenerate the river Tay in partnership with the Perth and Kinross Council, Fife Council among others to produce the Inner Tay Master Plan 2012-22 providing a frame work for sustainable development.

As developing alternative sources of energy is a key priority they approached the Scottish Biofuel Programme to investigate the feasibility of harvesting reedbeds along with willow and drift wood on the Tay to generate bioenergy. The objective of the project is to identify models that integrate Tay river management with feedstock harvesting and biofuel conversion processes into a holistic, efficient and cost-effective system.
