MacSween of Edinburgh is a brand leader in the food sector, making traditional Scottish Haggis.
Environmental sustainability is of great importance to the company. In the past 10 years they have made significant improvements to their environmental management such as waste, energy, carbon emissions and water use. With a planned expansion, the company is interested in a commercially viable integrated solution to waste management and energy production.
With this in mind, they contacted the Scottish Biofuel Programme for help. The programme is conducting a project which aims to provide compositional analysis of the effluent water and its potential biogas yield through Anaerobic Digestion (AD). This report can then be used as a baseline for the company to integrate the idea of a food waste AD plant into the core business with a quick market realisation.
